When thinking of coconut oil, you might think of all the positive attributes of the oil such as its positive effects on your hair, skin and health. However, according to the American Heart Association (AHA) coconut oil is no better for your health than butter and beef fat. The AHA released a report after reviewed existing data showing coconut oil increased LDL cholesterol, known as the “bad” cholesterol, which can lead to cardiovascular disease. The data showed 82% of the fat in coconut oil is saturated, worse than pork lard (39%), butter (63%) and beef fat (50%). So, it might be a better idea to opt for olive oil in the future.
