Hepatitis C Drugs Approved For Children

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral infection that causes liver disease. The infection is high among opioid dependent individual and although 20 % of infected children are a result of drug abuse most children are infected by their mothers during pregnancy. The FDA approved two HCV treatment drugs, Sovaldi in 2013 and Harvoni in 2014 for adults, but the news drugs were not approved for children. However, this year the FDA approved the two drugs for children aged 12 to 17.
