Oral Pathogen May Block Pregnancy In Women

Researchers at the University of Helsinki in Finland found a common periodontal pathogen may interfere with conception in women. Researches followed a group of 256 healthy, non-pregnant women ranging in ages 19 – 42 for 12 months. Results showed there was significant higher level of the bacterium associated with periodontal disease, porphyromonas gingivalis, in women were unable to become pregnant during the study.
