To provide information for the development of medical diagnostic devices, the Makerere University College of Health Sciences in Kampala, Uganda, will receive a grant of $500,000(Shs1.2b) for three years from Grand Challenges Canada and Melinda Gates Foundation. The grant is on behalf of the East African Community. Through using GIS, the researchers will determine both where the medical diagnostic devices can help the most people, but also where the devices can run and be sustainable so that developers can create products that will withstand the elements in different areas.
