Japanese prefecture implements cloud-based disaster management system

Shizuoka Prefecture on Japan’s eastern coast implemented a cloud-based disaster management system run by Salesforce.com. The local prefectural government built a new disaster management system that links together key infrastructure information such as roads, heliports, and evacuation centers for citizens to access.

The system combines GIS data with XML sent from Japan’s Meteorological Agency where users can send email updates from the field using their mobile phones, with GPS coordinates and pictures attached.
