UK study on weather shows risk to elderly

Researchers have mapped areas in the UK that will likely see an increase in severe weather as a result of climate change alongside projections of where England’s ageing population will be living in the 2030s. The results suggest the elderly will be living in the areas with the most severe weather. This is a study led by Durham University and Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh called Built Infrastructure for Older People’s Care in Conditions of Climate Change (BIOPICCC), published in the journal Applied Geography.
