Agriculture pulls all GIS maps into a single portal

The Agriculture Department aims to reduce duplication in the agency’s mapping work and make high-quality maps more accessible to the public by creating a new Web portal.

The Agriculture Department is trying to mix crowdsourcing approaches with GIS technology in a site that will be a  central repository for all the department’s GIS maps. The new portal will be launched department-wide in the next couple of months and then will be available to the public in about six to eight months.
