According to a new study led by Professor Majid Ezzati of Imperial College London and Goodarz Danaei at Harvard, the number of adults with diabetes more than doubled between 1980 and 2008. The study, published in the Lancet, found a high correlation between rising rates of diabetes and a rise in body mass index. The Economist‘s Daily Chart summarizes the study and shows maps from the study on diabetes prevalence worldwide for men and women.
