World Alcohol Consumption and the Daily Chart

Here is a map of the world alcohol consumption posted by The Economist’s Daily Chart blog, which “publish[es] a new chart or map every working day.” The map is based on World Health Organization (WHO) data. According to a report from the World Health Organisation published on February 11th, the world drank the equivalent of 6.1 liters of pure alcohol per person in 2005. The map shows people in Europe and in the former Soviet states drink the most.
