Geospatial aid to population census in Pakistan

According to Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Minister for Finance, Pakistan, all maps have been updated to ensure a smooth population census in Pakistan. He also said that modern methodology and equipment will be used to ensure data accuracy during the meeting of Council of Common Interest.

The Census 2011 has been planned in a very comprehensive manner and, according to Asif Bajwa, Secretary Statistics Division, the data would be placed on the Google Maps through the GIS for analysis and better planning of health, education and other public services.

Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani termed the population census as government’s constitutional responsibility.
