Using GIS technology, Venezuela’s Environment Ministry announced that it will create a registry of the country’s primary sources of air pollution. The registry will enable users to geographically locate stationary sources of contaminated gasses in the national territory to clarify their strategies for environmental supervision. The Ministry will record the location and contaminated impact of facilities linked to the oil industry as well as incinerators, cement factories, major manufacturers of sugar and metals, crematoriums and garbage dump sites.
