China experiences rapid growth in geospatial industry

During the period of the 11th Five-Year Plan, the growth rate of China’s geographic information industry exceeded 300 percent and its annual output value is expected to reach 200 billion yuan. There are more than 400,000 people are working in the industry and new geographic information enterprises are being established almost every day.

“Digital China will generally be established, which is made up of a comprehensive global positioning service network, a national primary scale topographic map and a national geographic information service platform,” Xu Deming, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land and Resources and Director of the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (SBSM), said.
