The state Health Department of New York is making it easier to find out whether your neighborhood is a cancer cluster. In May, the department launched an interactive map on its web site, allowing users to search by address or zip code the number of cancer cases in their communities.
The database includes the amount of cancer cases reported in each community between 2003 and 2007 with the location of nearby environmental trouble spots (i.e. brownfield sites, hazardous waste dumps, and chemical plants).
