OSU Researcher tracks H1N1 virus

Researcher Daniel Janies at Ohio State Univerisity created a program showing how the H1NI virus mutated and spread around the world. Through using a supercomputer, he used scientists’ records of the genetic fingerprints of H1N1 viruses from different patients to design his “SupraMap” program. Each mutation, its location, date of discovery, and links to each mutated virus’ most likely genetic parents were added to a map.
