“URISA Grants a One Year Complimentary Membership to All New GISPs”

The URISA (Urban and Regional Information Systems Association) Board of Directors has decided to award new GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professionals) members a complimentary one year membership, beginning in December of 2009 (those who are not already members. The qualifications of this membership is determined by the GIS Certification Institute and is valued at $175. This membership is given to the people that have met GISCI requirements in the following fields: educational, professional experience, and professional contribution. The idea is to recognize accomplishments and support the professional contributions of future GISPs.

“URISA is a non-profit professional and educational association that promotes the effective and ethical use of spatial information and information technologies for the understanding and management of urban and regional systems. It is a multidisciplinary association where professionals from all parts of the spatial data community can come together and share concerns and idea.” (www.urisa.org)
